Gum Disease

Fight Gum Disease for Better Overall Heath
Statistics show that 80 percent of adults over 35 develop some form of gum disease. Dr. Tong and Dr. Lacap take a proactive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of this common affliction. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease usually begins with mild symptoms, such as swollen or bleeding gums. Left untreated, the condition can lead to tooth loss and other serious health conditions, including stroke, osteoporosis, and diabetes complications.

To stop gum disease and restore dental health, your dentist will recommend non-surgical periodontal therapy, which may include antibiotics, scaling, and root planing. After treatment of gum disease, we will take steps to protect your health and investment by making sure your homecare is adequate. Initially, we will suggest recare every three months to help prevent recurrence.
